Today we entered the tundra swapping the hazard of crevasses for grizzlies. One negative of leaving snow behind was the necessity to carry everything (including sled) resulting in packs weighing around 90lbs. The other was the Alaskan mozzie, a truly viscous insect which meant head to foot clothing at all times and full gore text when resting plus liberal application of deet. Landscape is typically UK mountain scenery, with hills/ mountains covered in rhododendrons which slow progress down. Descending McGonagall’s pass we get a glimpse of Wonder lake still around 15 miles away though looking deceptively close. Weather is mild
